Coordinated Therapy Treatment

- The psychiatrist may additionally provide medication evaluation and treatment, while therapy is continued by the referring mental health professional.

- The psychiatrist may additionally provide carefully boundaried therapy to one individual, possibly in combination with medication if indicated, when a couple or family is already involved in relationship counseling with the referring mental health professional.
Consultation with Counseling Professionals
Dr. Pazdral can consult with other mental health professionals on difficult cases or about ethical issues therapists are confronting. He enjoys providing high feedback consultation with other mental health professionals handling difficult cases involving issues like:
- Psychotherapy Consultation— providing case input and consultation for independent practitioners
- Reviewing treatment cases that are not progressing satisfactorily
- Sorting out ethical challenges or conflicts arising during psychotherapy
- Risk management consultation, reviewing situations that may involve the potential for lawsuits
- Other therapy or professional practice issues with legal implications (“medico legal consultation”)
Forensic Psychiatry
This describes the psychiatrist providing services for attorneys and their clients in legal situations. Dr. Pazdral completed his law degree at the UT School of Law in 1988. His unique background and experience equips him to evaluate, testify and offer mental health intervention in situations where mental health expertise is needed by the legal system.
He is available for pre-litigation consultations. Dr. Pazdral can evaluate and make recommendations in legal cases involving matters such as:
- Child Custody Cases
- Divorce
- Civil and Criminal Competency
- Litigation involving mental health issues and determinations
- Juvenile Justice Concerns
- Disability Evaluation
- Independent Medical Exams
In this role, Dr. Pazdral practices exclusively as a forensic psychiatrist, as a consulting physician, NOT as an attorney. For legal matters, clients must rely on their own attorney to represent them and provide guidance through the legal situation.
In almost all matters designated as “Forensic Psychiatry,” there should be an attorney involved at the time of initiation of contact with Dr. Pazdral. The attorney should generally be the one to contact Dr. Pazdral to arrange the initial contact and evaluation.
